Apply for the 2024 FIFA Foundation Community Programme

September 8, 2023

NGOs operating football-related projects around the world are being encouraged to apply for funding assistance through the FIFA Foundation Community Programme 2024. The application period is open through September 15.

Applicants need to show how they use football to tackle social issues and advance positive social change. The FIFA Foundation seeks to engage NGOs in a variety of initiatives that contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of good health and well-being, quality education, gender equality, no poverty, reduced inequalities, peace, justice and strong institutions and decent work and economic growth. The comprehensive selection process involves strict eligibility criteria and requires organizations to submit supporting documentation in the areas of finance and child protection.

The FIFA Foundation Community Programme works with local projects around the world that use the power of football to effect positive social change and to address the most pressing global challenges facing underprivileged children and young people within the communities in which they operate. Last year, 114 non-governmental organizations were accepted onto the programme, which enables each applicant to apply for funding of up to USD 30,000 to help support football-related projects and initiatives within the communities in which they run.

Some description

“In 2022 and 2023, we’ve witnessed football’s ability to unite the world. In the space of eight months, we’ve enjoyed magnificent editions of the FIFA World Cup and the FIFA Women’s World Cup and seen the global appeal of the beautiful game in communities across the planet. However, this impact doesn’t just happen at the very top levels of the game, but throughout every country and every community in the world,” said FIFA Foundation Executive Chairman Mauricio Macri. “I encourage organizations in this sphere to apply and help us to help you make a real difference through football.”

The FIFA Foundation was established in 2018 as an independent entity with the goal of mobilizing the positive power of football to improve lives. Central to its activities are tackling social issues affecting young people, empowering women and girl, repairing damaged or destroyed sports infrastructure, supporting education through football and leveraging the game’s most celebrated icons to reach out to millions of people globally with positive messages for a more inclusive world.

The Foundation Community Programme supports organizations that use football as a tool for social change and to improve the lives of underprivileged people around the world. Each year, the FIFA Foundation invites established non-profit entities to apply for project funding in order to use football as a tool to address social issues affecting young people such as education, health, peacebuilding, refugees, leadership and gender equality.
