Global Brand TECNO Announces Dream Fields Project At AFCON

January 26, 2024

Just ahead of the 24 qualifying nations taking the pitch for the exciting TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) currently underway in Côte d’Ivoire, official sponsor and global technology brand TECNO announced an ambitious goal to transform community football pitches across the continent.

Over the next five years, it will refurbish 100 sites in the effort to foster youth engagement, promote healthy lifestyles and improve access to high-quality athletic facilities for underserved communities. The announcement was made during a charity match ahead of AFCON featuring CAF General Secretary Véron Mosengo-Omba and celebrated players Jay-Jay Okocha, El Hadji Diouf, Asamoah Gyan, Dennis Oliech and Erick Otieno. To further expand its investment, TECNO promised an additional $10,000 for every goal scored during the friendly match. The result was an extra $50,000 donation to the project.

Through the refurbishments, the brand is looking to contribute to the well-being of communities and create opportunities for the youth to thrive, while creating potential for additional innovations and experiences to benefit African people and communities through technology and sport. The approach aligns with TECNO’s core values of “innovation, social responsibility and a dedication to making a lasting impact.”

“By revitalizing one hundred pitches throughout Africa, we embark on a mission to illuminate the dreams of an innumerable number of individuals,” said Jack Guo, general manager of TECNO. TECNO is an innovative technology brand with operations in over 70 countries and regions across five continents. It was named the official smartphone sponsor of AFCON by the continent’s football regulating body, the Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF), this year.
